The people at Dark Energy Digital, creator of Xbox Live Arcade title Hydrophobia, don’t take kindly to people criticising their hard work. They spent three years working on the game and they’ll be damned if they’re going to stand by and listen while reviewers say anything bad about it. Not only has their public relations department contacted authors of negative reviews directly to tell them that they’re playing the game “wrong”; they’ve gone so far as to speculate that some publications reviewed the game without actually playing it.
On one hand, you have to hand it to them for standing behind their product. On the other, however, one can’t help but wonder about the quality of a game when some of the biggest review sites on the web (1Up, Destructoid, Joystiq, and Eurogamer, to name a few) are calling it crap. Hydrophobia looked like it was going to be a fantastic game, too.
